Casual Friday - (Vamos Estar Tu Y Yo)

Yesterday may have been one of the worst fashion faux-pas that have occurred in a while (& I'm not talking about sweats and Uggs boots [that's a different story]). I went the whole day in just a graphic tee! At first I didn't think that was a big deal or anything - actually I thought that I looked pretty OK. It wasn't until people started noticing that I looked different yesterday and well it turns out it's that I was just so casual looking. But I'm a believer in attracting things into your life (like the Secret) and by being to my standards so disorganized looking my day ended up being just that! For one I lost my password for my email, took a 4 hour nap, and couldn't even talk right. I don't know, moral of the story is, live up to your own expectations. For me that means don't ever wear just a random graphic tee again. It will throw off my game.

So today I needed to enhance my look. Neckwear is an essential component to any gentlemen's wardrobe and unfortunately it's not something that I wear all that often. So what better way to go from one extreme to the other. However, I woke up feeling groggy like I have been all week because of a minor cold, so I dressed my tie casually. The entire essence of the look was very laid back but it still had that going-to-work type feel to it. I liked it. I plan on doing the collar + tie + sweater combo more often while I still can. Only of matter of weeks here until the temperature begins to only permit shorts and short sleeves!

I'm so happy to be posting a look again. Ever since being in school it feels like I never have time to creepily take pictures of myself and edit them. Currently just waiting for my friend to give me some of the pics he took of me the other day when I wore my Lanvin shoes. Should be soon.

Living

Oh how behind I am in terms of fashion. Sure, I've seen the huge shows and have been so in love with McQueen and surprised by Gucci, but I've yet to see a single Paris shows! Oh my, looks like this weekend I will have some catching up to do.

Gucci FW2011/12

In the meantime however, I'm just getting adjusted to my new schedule where I'm either in class or at work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and basically that's what's taking over my life! But I'm having such a good time and really letting go of the things that have held me back.

Which, brings me to this amazing song that kind of inspired me to rant today... Found it on my friend's music blog Did. Me. Dirty. and it's just such a feel good/ positive song called Cards to Your Heart by Groove Armada. It's just one of those that I can listen to in whatever mood! Click on the link to listen to it :)

Today's Saturday, and it's the only of the week that I can really sit around and do nothing. So with that, I think I'm going to explore through the used book store, Bookmans, and read all my tweets from last night.

Make Jour day Joyful!!

Welcome back to the 70's!

Milano's going back to the future this FW season! Shows such as Burberry (above), Prada, and D&G have sported retro prints and classic ivy-leauge - lovely pieces. A complete shift from the last FW shows, at least for Burberry. Going from spikes, ruggedness, and classical badass Burberry Prorsum's lived up to its always satisfying criteria. Now, all I need is a boy friend, a park with leaves all over the ground, and Burberry. Their lines always generate such perfect Fall/Winter dreams...

Faith in the Future

Lived such an eventful week! Here are some of the highlights: Moving back to my dorm at UofA, starting work, starting class, seeing President Obama and other political leaders speak, and seeing Wicked! I am so thankful for such opportunities that I am given, having such a great time back in school, and I already feel so many great vibes about this semester and this year. I hope that all of you do also.

The look I'm wearing was particularly special for today. The tragedies that have happened in Tucson, Arizona, where my school is located, have lead to such an outstanding bond within my country. It's sad that we became so close over this and that it's not regularly like this, however, the community now is hopeful for the future. Today the color white was meant for all the lost lives from the terrible shooting that happened at one of Tucson's supermarkets. My heart goes out to all those affected.

Now, back to my crazy week.

Love,

Vintage in Modern

Sweater: Christian Dior
Bag: Paul Smith
Pants: Obey
Shoes: Vintage
Shirt: BDG

Another look from last week. This one was taken in Las Vegas right before we left for the city center again. It's just such a cosmopolitan dream and you cannot miss it if you're ever in that city. Gorgeous and to die for. Already want to go back!

As for the look, I've posted something similar but I like this better because I will be quite frank. The first time I was trying too hard! I had so many plans for this sweater and black but I took it to an obnoxious duo-toned level that should've never occurred.

PLUS: I'm in love with my new bag from Paul Smith! Definitely was feeling ambitious when I bought it and I do not regret it! It fits everything I need it too and I'm so ready for Spring fashion it's so not even funny!

With that though, I am back at school now, but I promise to keep on posting posts! Love you <3<3<3

Dreamworld Los Angeles

H&M Sweater
Vintage Shirt
Black Jeans
My trip to Los Angeles was fantastic. It was such a long day, literally sounding like a dream. But reality did however strike, once I checked my bank account.
My day began in Phoenix when I woke up at 4:00 a.m. because like every great gentlemen I needed to make sure I would be properly attired not only for the airport but  to walk all over Los Angles in a day. What I though would just be Airport -> Beverly Hills -> WeHo -> and San Bernardino (where I stayed with an aunt of mine), turned into Phoenix -> Ontario -> Irvine -> Beverly Hills -> WeHo -> Rancho Cucamonga -> and then finally San Bernardino. If I wasn’t wired from the Venti Caramel Macchiato that I got at the airport, I’d be pretty Black Swanny, or terrifying.
But you won’t believe what I scored in the vintage shops in LA! I’ll make a post soon as soon as I’m home and not on the road 24/7. (I also don’t have WiFi and I’m posting this from Circus Circus, Las Vegas because we just happened to stop by).
However the journey was yet to end. Now I’m in Las Vegas, exploring the place that I used to live at and hated. Boy have things changed...

Earthy

So leave it to my unusual self and my unusual family to do a shoot in my garage with the five new trees that my dad surprised us with today. I mean, these kinds of things happen to everyone right?

The things that I'm wearing right now are some of my favorite things that I own in my whole wardrobe. The vintage shirt, if you look closely are actually little business men with suitcases and umbrellas! Plus the long cardigan I got at the clearance Dillards, and my trench coat that I bought when I was in Paris over the summer. These fabulous things really worked well together. Just an example of mixing vintage with modern yet again.

Thank you to everyone that views my blog. Thanks to you guys, barely two weeks in and I'm close to 1,000 views! I want to keep on going strong but once I get back to school I may not be doing my post du jour. However, do not fear, since this has become my favorite hobby, I KNOW there will be a bunch of posts to come so never fear. Jo du Jour is hereeeee :) #shittypuns?

Playing Dress Up With Shorts

^ This has been directly inspired by this:

Thom Browne SS 2011

Arizona provides the opportunity for Spring/Summer looks year round. We'll get those occasional cold fronts that'll be absolutely freezing, but since cold weather wear doesn't exists in this part of the world, we're still walking around like idiots in the cold. Hence, my new years look. Shorts in 26 degree Fahrenheit weather, not the smartest... But FASHION can be PAINFUL, especially if it's worth it.

The only thing I was really missing was the gold lipstick.

Here's the entire amazingly presented Thom Browne SS collection:

For better quality go to the designers website, this is just the cheap YouTube knock off. http://www.thombrowne.com/

I hope that your having a haute 2011!

Twenty-Eleven

I'm so excited to be starting off the new year with so amazingly. I have a lot to look forward too, and a lot of new people that I am excited to be going on the 2011 roller coaster with.

My New Years was ridiculous, went to Tucson for my Big's party and had such a great time. For a college party they went all out: Food, fireworks, and of course that new years champagne. It was fantastic. How was your new years? (If you can remember it ;)
