Where is my Prada? It is heart breaking for me to get on any fashion website without seeing Prada Spring/Summer 2011 or something that has been influenced by it. All I want are bananas, stripes, and my initials on a P.E. inspired tote!
Such an underestimated piece of headwear: the do rag.
Originating from ancient China, this iconic head piece may be a staple for some, and for others a mystery. After being completely inspired by a do rag I saw at my local Circle K gas station I knew I needed to recreate this astonishing innovation! Thus, using a scarf I had laying around I created only the most gorgeous thing. Such a great DIY and goes with everything! Wear it!

APRIL FOOLS!
I literally only just liked the way it sounded.....
The air here has become so gorgeous. The weather's fantastic, the clear days with slight breezes seriously feel like an embrace from mother nature herself. I don't ever want it to go. But, for Arizona, summer's basically two weeks away.
My outfit's extremely casual and simple. The shirt I'm wearing makes me want to lay down in the grass and extend my arms and stretch because it's just so casual and lazy. I found this shirt at Goodwill and the stripes/ the way it fits, it just seemed like the perfect shirt that I'll probably wear over and over again for the rest of the season. I'm just on this mission to find short sleeved button ups for Panama this May!
I hope that everybody's week was amazing! Ahora es Viernes, Viernes! FUN FUN FUN!
Spring Break 2011 has been so fun, spontaneous, and dare-is-say adventurous even. I'm enjoying SB11 so much more than I thought I would considering that I was just going home to Phoenix. But everyday has been on the go and quite hectic! Like yesterday, I went started my day in Gilbert, then to Chandler, then back to Gilbert, then to Tempe, then to Scottsdale, then to N. Phoenix, then back down to Tempe, and home to Gilbert! So much traveling, for those of you that know the Phoenix area, you can start calling me the Loop Jo du Jour!
This look was put together to start the summer season! I feel like I barely got to deliver what I'm doing for the Spring since here in the desert it already feels very steamy. It's like we skip an entire season and go from COLD to one week of nice weather then to HOT! Oh well though, at least give the desert credit for it's beauty that's extremely looked over by its residence.
Earlier today one of my old friends asked me for a quote to use for her assignment. Her question was, "What are you most looking forward to for Spring Summer 2011?"
My answer: Contrasting pops of color as seen in Prada, Jil Sander, and Marc Jacobs.
Here are the Prada SS2011 videos that showed me how to move towards the new season.
Arizona provides the opportunity for Spring/Summer looks year round. We'll get those occasional cold fronts that'll be absolutely freezing, but since cold weather wear doesn't exists in this part of the world, we're still walking around like idiots in the cold. Hence, my new years look. Shorts in 26 degree Fahrenheit weather, not the smartest... But FASHION can be PAINFUL, especially if it's worth it.
The only thing I was really missing was the gold lipstick.
Here's the entire amazingly presented Thom Browne SS collection:
For better quality go to the designers website, this is just the cheap YouTube knock off. http://www.thombrowne.com/
This collection from Duckie Brown, designer based from New York, encompasses some major key points to other collections seen during the Spring 2011 season. Here, inspiration lives off of Spring collections because in Arizona there's about a week where you can't wear shorts and the sun doesn't shine. Here's what I've seen:
In an overall context I've noticed a play on the modern slim silhouette by adding some length in tops and layering. A longer shirt paired with a shorter one on top is keeping t-shirts fresh and straying away from their average/tedious presentation.
And thanks leave it to spring to keep on bringing back horizontal stripes. However, unlike wearing clothes that makes you look like a sailor bright and contrasting stripes piled together on a piece have been familiar to spring 2011. Just look at Prada 2011 as another example. Color blocking :)
I'm also pretty much in love with the colors here. Not only do we see brights, but there are various fantastic examples of subtle and more neutral colors that are equally fashion forward.
