Duckie Brown Spring/Summer 2011

This collection from Duckie Brown, designer based from New York, encompasses some major key points to other collections seen during the Spring 2011 season. Here, inspiration lives off of Spring collections because in Arizona there's about a week where you can't wear shorts and the sun doesn't shine. Here's what I've seen:

In an overall context I've noticed a play on the modern slim silhouette by adding some length in tops and layering. A longer shirt paired with a shorter one on top is keeping t-shirts fresh and straying away from their average/tedious presentation.

And thanks leave it to spring to keep on bringing back horizontal stripes. However, unlike wearing clothes that makes you look like a sailor bright and contrasting stripes piled together on a piece have been familiar to spring 2011. Just look at Prada 2011 as another example. Color blocking :)

I'm also pretty much in love with the colors here. Not only do we see brights, but there are various fantastic examples of subtle and more neutral colors that are equally fashion forward.

Here are some of my favorite looks:

  1. I love the color blocking featured in the collections recently. So reminiscent of the 70's but with a modern edge.
