Ties and Bikes

HAPPY (Belated) Valentine's Day!!

What better Valentine than yourself? Honestly, it's a real life lesson males and females... You can't love someone else until you love yourself, so why not celebrate yourself! So I dressed up (Because who wants a sloppy Valentine? Not me!), went to class, and felt so very H-B-I-C-like all day. It's such a wonderful day, and those that just sulk, complain, and hate literally are missing out on all the delight that love can bring. So next Valentine's day, just remember, you will always have a lover... YOURSELF! <3

Muse-ic Inspiration

Currently Listening to:

Contacting my Latin American roots my current musical inspirations are all Spanish speaking. Featured here are El Guincho and the song, Bombay. Underneath is the fantastic and always impressive Shakira in the song, Lo Hecho Esta Hecho. And lastly I am so enthused by the fun sounds of the pop group Belanova singing Solo Para Mi. If you haven't noticed I've been using a lot of Spanish in the titles of my looks and reason being is for these amazing bands. I also would have to suggest that my Spanish class had something to do with it, but mainly the songs were heard on a whim and now are constantly on repeat all day - all week. Hope you love them!

Influence - Vision

Earlier today one of my old friends asked me for a quote to use for her assignment. Her question was, "What are you most looking forward to for Spring Summer 2011?"

My answer: Contrasting pops of color as seen in Prada, Jil Sander, and Marc Jacobs.

Here are the Prada SS2011 videos that showed me how to move towards the new season.

PS. Thank you @BryanBoy

Atento

All those days that I spent saying, "Wow, I wish that it would be cold so I could be all cute and bundled up" are over. Today has been hell in Arizona. Pretty much the entire state was not prepared for a canadian wind chill that took over the Southern West of the states and last minute everyone scurried to begin layering. Today I wore my first turtle necked sweater which turned out fabulous, I didn't have to feel the freezing wind attack my neck. However, I guess we are pretty lucky here that it's at least sunny, and this only happens about once a year if that. Let's just say that for sure nobody spotted any groundhogs here. Now, I'm lounging around, warm in very comfortable clothing happy to be inside. Unfortunately, today was only a prelude to tomorrow. Wish us Arizonans luck!!

Color + Pattern

We all have our guidelines on what looks good, on what goes well together etc. What I think looks good sure as hell would be different than the next fashionista. That's the true embodiment of personal style. Traditionally, mixing patterns and colors together have a reputation of not going together. However, I so beg to differ. Bow tie Monday meant I wore what I think looked good. It didn't matter whether or not it matched traditionally, I quite loved the way everything was placed together. I've seen it done in countless shows, like Marc by Marc, Thom Browne, Prada, and more. Traditional dress really is important for foundational purposes --- but why not build off of that? Personally, when done right, you can do anything.

How do you feel about mixing things together? Have an example??

Bow Tie - Vintage

Ps. Gentlemen, starting your week off with a bow tie brings so many great things to your week, and it definitely eases the Mondays.
